The world of comics has been roiled by the news that famous comics author Neil Gaiman is a sex creep. Gaiman’s horribleness came out in an explosive article in New York Magazine. Anyone who read comics in the 90s knew about Gaiman and his work: he wrote 70 issues of an era-defining comic book called Sandman. I was never a fan. The stories always seemed pretentious to me. But like his fellow English comics writer, Alan Moore, Gaiman’s work inspired tons of devoted readers and was especially appealing to the goth subculture. His character of “Death” was so iconic in appearance that young female fans all over the world adopted her look.
