Longtime readers know that I like to scour HAR.com for photos of peoples homes that are for sale that show off their art collection. Showing off the art is not the purpose of these photos, obviously. They are trying to get you interested in buying the house. But since the photos are taken before the house goes on sale, we sometimes get a glimpse at what the current owners collect.
The house at 9010 Wickford Drive has some interesting artwork in it, although I cannot identify any of it. This house is in the Memorial area near Silber. This is an incredibly rich neighborhood, and they are selling the house for $4.2 million. And here is some of their art. . .
The front hallway has a cool if somewhat intimidating cantilevered door, as well as two striking artworks on opposite walls.
This photo has a somewhat better view of the two entryway artworks. The one on the left features a shaped canvas (if it is in fact painted canvas) with several small satellite objects. The one on the right appears to be a surreal landscape viewed from above.
This one shows the shaped canvas piece as well as an utterly weird fireplace.
Any clues as to who these paintings are by? Because I have no idea.
I liked the four shelves for displaying small items. It looks like a magazine rack on an old-fashioned newsstand. (As an aside, I believe that Houston now has zero newsstands—another reason why Houston sucks.)
I have no idea what that is over the bed. It looks decorative, so I am counting it as an artwork.
This work is impossible to make out, but one can deduce that it is a work on paper that has been floated in a glass frame.
