The Junk Heap of History
The title of this post does not refer to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine or to MAGA, although I certainly want them both to take up residence in said junk heap. I’m thinking of that well-known phenomenon of trashing your yard. The bane of homeowners everywhere. Here’s an example from Pacific Street over in Montrose.
Eagle-eyed readers will notice that this pile of junk is unlike the old cliche of a car up on blocks or other examples of redneck lawn decor. This is from the same block where Basket Books is located, and the owner of the property (if I’m reading HCAD right) is HTP II LTD. These bits of metal junk are parts of the Saint Paul Sculptural Complex by George Sugarman, a now-dismantled sculpture that I’ve written about before.
This one is on the west side of the property on Mason St.
The Saint Paul Sculptural Complex is well and truly gone. It was a site-specific sculpture and the site has been detroyed. Still, it rankles to see its remains treated like trash.
