It has recently been reported that Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas took lavish gifts from Dallas billionaire Harlan Crow for years without reporting the gifts. This has been thoroughly reported elsewhere, and there is really nothing I can usefully add. Texas produces some of the most insane billionaires, and Dallas takes the prize. Crow seems to be one of them. I don’t pretend to know the extent of Crow’s sympathy to rightist authoritarianism, but if he is giving millions of dollars in lavish vacations to Clarence Thomas, I assume it is pretty substantial.
