Imagining the most totalitarian thing that the fascists who run our state would do, you can hardly be more dystopian and evil than to convert school libraries into children’s prisons.
Superintendent Mike Miles, appointed in June by the Texas Education Agency to lead Houston ISD, will eliminate librarians and media specialists from the 28 campuses under his New Education System...
What typifies the banality of evil better than the phrase “New Education System:?
Miles said the former library spaces at most NES and NES-aligned campuses will instead be converted into "Teams centers" — formerly called Zoom rooms — where students who misbehave in the classroom will be sent to watch the lesson virtually and others can work alone or in groups for differentiated instruction.
Now don’t worry—they aren’t disposing of the books. Kids can even still check out them out before or after school. I guess the warden will be responsible for that (the librarians having been terminated). I can imagine how eager the little eight year olds will be to go to jail to check out a book.
HISD parent Lauren Ashley was noy having any of Miles’ shit when she spoke up at a district meeting.
I don’t think she accomplished much because for that to happen, Mike Miles would have to be capable of shame. He should be ashamed to take part in the fascist takeover of Houston. But apparently he’s an eager Nazi functionary.

Exactly my thoughts, Robert. I worked for HPL for over twenty years, and I get it.
